Secondhand Dreamcar, is a true superband - a consummate constellation of Canadian music veterans who have worked on some of the finest jazz, funk, folk, soul, and blues projects ever created in Alberta. Collectively, they craft a distinct, funky, and lyrically-driven sound that journalist and programmer Peter North called the most exciting thing to come out of Edmonton since k.d. lang and the Reclines.
Their debut album earned them five prestigeous nominations from the JUNOS, Canadian Blues Music Awards and the Western Canadian Music Awards. Their sophomore album Get Ready drops September 25th!
At 17, Jake Soberlak of Kamloops, BC, plays the blues like someone three times his age and half a century removed. Inspired by his grandfather’s old records, he sings and plays the guitar, slide guitar, and harmonica. Digging through those old records brought over from England, Jake found something that reached across generations and grabbed him. Scratchy, raw and utterly alive, those records lit a fire that hasn’t gone out. His live-off-the-floor debut album arrives September 11th, 2026 and is sure to rank him as one of the most compelling young blues musicians in Canada.

In 2026 they were voted as Fan Favourite for that release at the Canadian Blues Music Awards, following their 2025 JUNO nomination for New Orleans Sessions. And in 2024 their album Scream, Holler & Howl was honoured with the JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year, a nomination for the Blues Foundation’s Emerging Artist of the Year and it swept the Maple Blues Awards (Canada’s highest honour in Blues) with four coveted wins.
Sandra's latest album came together during an artist’s residence on Halls Island, Ontario where she wrote most of the material for A Sound in the Dark. Everyone who’s heard her sing knows that Sandra’s always been a powerful vocalist and a compelling songwriter, but on this recording, she has truly found her own voice, and the promise of her earlier work has come to full fruition.
You can hear echoes of Etta James and Carla Thomas in Bouza’s powerful and highly nuanced phrasing. Like Amy Winehouse and Adele, Sandra’s absorbed a lot from listening to the greats from the golden age of R&B, and like them, she has emerged with a style that is all her own. Gifted with a masterful sense of poise and control, few singers can inhabit a vocal like Bouza does.
Harpdog Brown had a reputation as a real-deal purveyor of classic electric blues. Think of the old Chess Records and Sun Records of the late ’40s and early ‘50s. He toured in various iterations, most recently as Harpdog Brown & the Uptown Blues Band - a vintage New Orleans Blues sound that was piano-driven and at any given show could feature slide trombone, sax, clarinet, trumpet and more. It marked a whole new era for Dog! They performed mostly originals yet they often included great songs of the masters including Louis Jordan, Satchmo, Sonny Boy Williamson, Wynonie Harris, and even Duke Ellington. Sadly, the world lost Harpdog on January 7, 2022. His incredible musical legacy will live on through projects like this.
